To Gaze

March 29, 2019 Leave a Comment

My family has been enjoying a much needed Spring Vacation this past week. We have had a lot of laughs, a lot of sleep, and a lot of fresh air.

We have had the luxury of taking a couple of fun day trips. One of the things I love about the Pacific Northwest is the beautiful way spring looks. Everything is so vibrant, even in the rain.

Everywhere we have gone this week there has been beauty. Beautiful colors, deep greens and showy blues. Bright white and splashes of yellow and pink.

At moments I have seen things that take my breath away and I think…my God is so creative!

Psalm 27:4 came to mind. Read with me…

One thing I have asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord…

We often talk about all the beautiful things God has created and there is no doubt He is the King of this.

But we also can not miss that this beauty He creates is a direct reflection of just how beautiful God Himself is.

In this Psalm David says he wants to “gaze upon” God’s beauty. Gazing implies looking at with adoration and appreciation. It involves a thankful heart and a joyful Spirit. It makes you desire more.

How often do we take time in our busy lives to just stop and gaze at the beauty around us?

God has made all of this for our pleasure and it is good. Very good!

Love you!!
