February is upon us with pounds of chocolate, construction paper hearts, and Hallmark cards. As we move into this month ripe with emotion and the promise of spring ready to burst from a frozen earth, I wish to offer you a quiet whisper these hard and dark Monday mornings.
A quick read, a few quiet verses, and a meaningful prayer that will hopefully lift your heart and encourage your soul.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved.
– Ephesians 2:4-5
That child who won’t put on their shoes after the 100th time of being asked?
He’s got this.
That boss that is hard to understand or please?
He’s got this.
That friend that let you down this weekend?
Yep, He saw and He’s got that one, too.
The argument you had with your husband?
He’s got you both covered.
That family member that you are struggling to understand?
He sees and He cares.
His love is patient and kind. The width and depth of God’s love is something we can’t begin to fathom. It is pure and holy. God doesn’t know how to be impatient or unkind because His nature won’t allow this.
Where we are driven to speak harshly, let us show love and mercy.
Where we fall short, let us be kind in our responses.
Where we find weaknesses, may we find His strength.
Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.
Psalm 136: 26
Dear Lord, meet me where I am today. You see my frustrations and longings. You know my reasons and justifications for why I feel unable to be patient and kind. Let me lean into your strength and hear your Holy whispers. Thank you that you love me and promise never to leave me. Let the personal love you show me be extended to those I meet today. In Your name, Amen
