Have you ever felt like you were juggling a million balls and at any moment one of them would come crashing down…only to allow all the others to follow suit? I don’t think there is a woman alive who can’t say that at some point they have felt stretched to the point of craziness!
I recently got the opportunity to read and review a fantastic book by Morgan Tyree entitled Take Back Your Time: Identify your Priorities, Decrease Stress, and Increase Productivity. This book has made a world of difference for me in the way I organize and think through my days. I am constantly juggling all of “life” and like many women have struggled to find the correct place to put some “self” time in, joyfully complete a task, or efficiently do more than one thing at a time.
My kids are growing every single day, and I am in a season of my life where I am working as a teacher full time. Since our schedules are full, it is vital that I understand how to be an organized wife and mom. Finding time throughout the week to do a little something or to have uninterrupted time to complete an important task has become difficult and downright frustrating.
This book encourages the working mom and wife that we go through “seasons”. When my kids were younger, in diapers, I was up all night, and I was still getting up each morning and working a job that college prepared me for. I thought I would never make it through that season alive or joyful.
Morgan graciously and beautifully validates the feelings and emotions that I, and I suspect many working moms and wives have struggled with. Through her beautiful writing, we can understand and accept that God calls us to different seasons and He has a specific purpose for each season we are in. We are called to seek His direction and make the most of the time He has given.
As Morgan goes through this book, she breaks our busy days into time zones. What I love about this book is her ability to be specific and thorough about each time zone and provide practical application, as well as cute free printables (BONUS!!), for us to personalize our own days.
If you are like me, the visual of this schedule is eye-opening and helps me see in color what I am doing with all of my time. It was convicting and refreshing. This helps in setting goals and shifted my focus for the current season I am in, rather than assume I had to keep doing things the same old way “because I always have”.
As you read through this book, you will find validation and empowerment to make decisions about your time that will leave you feeling refreshed and focused. It will help you to understand that reading a book and drinking a cup of coffee is absolutely doable (and allowed!!). It will help you learn how to do several activities at once, without feeling guilty that you are not focused on just one. At the same time, this book will provide a great resource to allow you to find time to be able to focus on intense work, be it bills, a job, or a project because you will see that there are times allotted in your week to do this.
This book helps busy women let go of their guilt of not being able to do it all and instead helps them realize that they can be productive and joyful in the season you are in! Morgan talks to you like a friend at your table and guides and coaches with a beautiful passion and sensitivity. You know she is praying for you and can tell that God has gifted her with an incredible ability to help a woman get back their time!
Kick up your feet and read a bit….believe it or not…you got time!!
