Finding Peace in Prayer

July 6, 2020 Leave a Comment

Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! (Psalm 61:4,ESV) The ways that God works in the unseen, is always a surprise. Sometimes we wonder if our prayers for protection and peace are strong enough and then He quietly reveals a glimpse of His … [Read more...] about Finding Peace in Prayer

Finding Courage

June 29, 2020 Leave a Comment

I sat outside the building, my quivering hand resting on my lips.  My stomach was filled with a million butterflies.  My thoughts absent as I stared from a distance.  Courage was not something I was feeling at this moment. I watched as complete strangers came and went from the … [Read more...] about Finding Courage

She is Clothed with Strength and Dignity

June 21, 2020 Leave a Comment

My daughter is becoming your typical high school teenage sweetie. She loves all things clothes and shoes and cute. Her recent trek into this realm has come mostly with the turning of the calendar as she is headed into the last four years of "school". I have been keenly aware these past few months … [Read more...] about She is Clothed with Strength and Dignity

Go Means Go: Following Christ’s Lead: Monday Morning Meditation

June 15, 2020 Leave a Comment

There is a natural wonder not far from where I call home. The mouth of the Metolius River begins where water bubbles from a spring under the earth. In a grove of trees there is nothing and mere feet away a dribble becomes a river that meanders through parts of Central Oregon. This last week, … [Read more...] about Go Means Go: Following Christ’s Lead: Monday Morning Meditation

Dancing in the Light of God’s Love

June 7, 2020 Leave a Comment

A favorite summer activity for my kids is to stand with their backs to the campfire pit on a warm night and reflect their shadows on the giant wall of our house. It doesn’t take long until you hear giggles that turn to shrieks of laughter as they dance and contort their bodies in all sorts of … [Read more...] about Dancing in the Light of God’s Love

    Hi, I’m Laura

I have been a busy working mom for quite some time.  I have three children and a steady career as an educator.  I understand the balance of  sleepless nights, guilt over putting my child in daycare, and trying to maintain and thrive in a career I love.  Read more…

I remember my parents and grandparents telling us I remember my parents and grandparents telling us stories about the storms they endured. This is one of ours.

The 2021 historic ice storm of Valentines weekend where we watched massive trees explode like shrapnel.

Where power was knocked out for days and roads were closed as people attempted to recover from what looked like a war zone.

Where prayers were prayed for protection and comfort each night by the light of the fireplaces, candles, and lanterns.

Where we saw Jesus show up in the kindness of humanity with chainsaws, hot coffee, and generators.

Where we cried with each other behind COVID masks and we knew that we would rise again.

The place we saw God whisper His presence and remind us that we are better together. The place we were reminded that strength comes from hard and we will endure.

This is our history and our story to tell. #family #workingmom #faithoverfear #hope #familyiseverything
