The Way, The Truth, The Life

October 10, 2019

We walked deeper into the forest of trees. The  path was increasingly becoming harder to navigate and my shoes were slipping as we hiked down the narrow gravel path.  Our guide was moving at a steady pace and the noisy group we were with quickly became a quiet hum. The path wound … [Read more...] about The Way, The Truth, The Life

Three Ways to Help Kids Develop Confidence

September 21, 2019 Leave a Comment

As an educator I often am asked questions about how to help kids. Occasionally I will write about my experiences in this space. Thank you for reading!   The sweet seven year old girl walked up to my desk and melted into sobs.  Taken a bit by surprise I put my arm around her and leaned in … [Read more...] about Three Ways to Help Kids Develop Confidence

Summer in the Psalms#6 Teaching my Daughter Psalms 139

August 12, 2019 Leave a Comment

We live in a unique time for girls. I am looking at my sweet girl and she is about to turn from toddler, sweet elementary age, preteen, into a teenager! Stop it!  Now! My heart hurts and I couldn't be prouder all at the same time. And I say to God regularly, this wasn't supposed to be so hard. … [Read more...] about Summer in the Psalms#6 Teaching my Daughter Psalms 139

Identity and Beauty

March 18, 2019 Leave a Comment

I have been thinking a lot about identity lately. Maybe it is because my sweet boy is turning 10 this week. I keep thinking where in the world has a decade gone? I have spent a lot of years being identified as "so and so's mom". Prior to that I was identified by my connection to my husband or … [Read more...] about Identity and Beauty

Beautiful Feet

November 13, 2018 Leave a Comment

On Saturday my baby girl fulfilled a long awaited dream. Since she was three years old and old enough to wear a tutu she has wanted to be the ballerina with the beautiful pointe shoes on her feet. Nine years, countless hours of practice and recitals, and three schools later, this precious girl was … [Read more...] about Beautiful Feet

I remember my parents and grandparents telling us I remember my parents and grandparents telling us stories about the storms they endured. This is one of ours.

The 2021 historic ice storm of Valentines weekend where we watched massive trees explode like shrapnel.

Where power was knocked out for days and roads were closed as people attempted to recover from what looked like a war zone.

Where prayers were prayed for protection and comfort each night by the light of the fireplaces, candles, and lanterns.

Where we saw Jesus show up in the kindness of humanity with chainsaws, hot coffee, and generators.

Where we cried with each other behind COVID masks and we knew that we would rise again.

The place we saw God whisper His presence and remind us that we are better together. The place we were reminded that strength comes from hard and we will endure.

This is our history and our story to tell. #family #workingmom #faithoverfear #hope #familyiseverything
