Humbled

July 12, 2018 Leave a Comment

This week I was humbled.  My family signed up months ago to help with our church's annual VBS.  Last year my husband and I helped with it and we enjoyed it.  Our kids love it and since we are both teachers, it comes fairly naturally to us. But as the time approached for this exciting week, I wasn't … [Read more...] about Humbled

Faith and Water

June 26, 2018

I woke up yesterday to a bit of sadness.  My sweet 7 year old had faithfully awaken each morning the past week and checked on two cups in our front window.  Inside of them were tiny seeds that had sprouted and tender plants that had begun to grow toward the sky.  Oh how he was excited … [Read more...] about Faith and Water

I remember my parents and grandparents telling us I remember my parents and grandparents telling us stories about the storms they endured. This is one of ours.

The 2021 historic ice storm of Valentines weekend where we watched massive trees explode like shrapnel.

Where power was knocked out for days and roads were closed as people attempted to recover from what looked like a war zone.

Where prayers were prayed for protection and comfort each night by the light of the fireplaces, candles, and lanterns.

Where we saw Jesus show up in the kindness of humanity with chainsaws, hot coffee, and generators.

Where we cried with each other behind COVID masks and we knew that we would rise again.

The place we saw God whisper His presence and remind us that we are better together. The place we were reminded that strength comes from hard and we will endure.

This is our history and our story to tell. #family #workingmom #faithoverfear #hope #familyiseverything
