15 Self Care Spring Ideas for the Teacher

March 7, 2020 Leave a Comment

There is a beautiful horse at the stable where my daughter rides each week. This creature has faithfully circled the arena each day, letting bright eyed riders experience the thrill of trotting and cantering. She has walked, trotted, and been guided while the roof has dripped from rain and the … [Read more...] about 15 Self Care Spring Ideas for the Teacher

Dear Tired Teacher, You Are Loved

February 14, 2020 Leave a Comment

No one saw you get up in the engulfing darkness this morning. Your achy feet padded across the floor with a heavy trudge as you headed into your morning routine. The quiet of the day surrounded you as your mind raced with the million and one little things you needed to accomplish in less than 18 … [Read more...] about Dear Tired Teacher, You Are Loved

10 Things I Have Learned This Past Decade

December 31, 2019

It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I read something on social media that reminded me we were heading into a new decade. Normally I look at the new year and think of starting over, but barely pay attention to the numbers attached to it. I am old enough to remember the hype, anxiety, and then let … [Read more...] about 10 Things I Have Learned This Past Decade

Life can get sticky, especially if you are closely involved with other people. So basically, all the time. It is amazing how a good God can take one, two,...ten, individuals with unique backgrounds, personalities, interests and quirks and have them work together. No one can orchestrate or do that … [Read more...] about Others

His Wish

January 17, 2019 Leave a Comment

When we speak of the love of God, it is easy to imagine  Jesus in heaven, far away from earth.  Rightly so.  After all He IS God.  The Great I AM. But sometimes it is easy to forget that Jesus walked among us.  His flesh and bones rubbed shoulders with people that lived during His time.  He felt … [Read more...] about His Wish

Help is Comin’

November 8, 2018 Leave a Comment

The book of Psalms is full of honest emotion. King David, who authored many of the Psalms, spared no words as he talked openly about his feelings. God created us as emotional creatures and, as a result, we struggle with joy and fear and sadness. Sometimes all in the exact same minute! One of the … [Read more...] about Help is Comin’

I remember my parents and grandparents telling us I remember my parents and grandparents telling us stories about the storms they endured. This is one of ours.

The 2021 historic ice storm of Valentines weekend where we watched massive trees explode like shrapnel.

Where power was knocked out for days and roads were closed as people attempted to recover from what looked like a war zone.

Where prayers were prayed for protection and comfort each night by the light of the fireplaces, candles, and lanterns.

Where we saw Jesus show up in the kindness of humanity with chainsaws, hot coffee, and generators.

Where we cried with each other behind COVID masks and we knew that we would rise again.

The place we saw God whisper His presence and remind us that we are better together. The place we were reminded that strength comes from hard and we will endure.

This is our history and our story to tell. #family #workingmom #faithoverfear #hope #familyiseverything
