Of Messes and Miracles

December 11, 2019 Leave a Comment

The second week of December always seems to arrive with a flurry of activity. The departure of Thanksgiving and the two or three weeks anticipating Christmas clips forward at a rapid pace. Programs are sung and danced, Christmas trees are lighted, presents are purchased and children eagerly count … [Read more...] about Of Messes and Miracles

The Rock of….

Growing up on the coastal beaches of Oregon, I was often treated to spectacular storm watching. It wasn't unusual for my dad to pile my siblings and I in the car and head out to the ocean beaches for an afternoon of surf watching. Beaches can be gorgeous and calm or fierce and violent. It is … [Read more...] about The Rock of….

Lay it Down

April 24, 2019 Leave a Comment

The days after the resurrection must have been ones of intense excitement and hope.  The disciples were forever changed and in many ways had "grown up" so to speak in their faith.  They had been witnesses of one of the most horrific acts on another human.  Not only had they lived to tell about it, … [Read more...] about Lay it Down

To Gaze

My family has been enjoying a much needed Spring Vacation this past week. We have had a lot of laughs, a lot of sleep, and a lot of fresh air. We have had the luxury of taking a couple of fun day trips. One of the things I love about the Pacific Northwest is the beautiful way spring looks. … [Read more...] about To Gaze

Others

Life can get sticky, especially if you are closely involved with other people. So basically, all the time. It is amazing how a good God can take one, two,...ten, individuals with unique backgrounds, personalities, interests and quirks and have them work together. No one can orchestrate or do that … [Read more...] about Others

Holy Ground

October 7, 2018 Leave a Comment

I was reading through verses in Joshua the other morning, when the following passage made me stop.  When Joshua was near Jericho, he lifted up his  eyes  and  looked and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand.  And Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us, … [Read more...] about Holy Ground

I remember my parents and grandparents telling us I remember my parents and grandparents telling us stories about the storms they endured. This is one of ours.

The 2021 historic ice storm of Valentines weekend where we watched massive trees explode like shrapnel.

Where power was knocked out for days and roads were closed as people attempted to recover from what looked like a war zone.

Where prayers were prayed for protection and comfort each night by the light of the fireplaces, candles, and lanterns.

Where we saw Jesus show up in the kindness of humanity with chainsaws, hot coffee, and generators.

Where we cried with each other behind COVID masks and we knew that we would rise again.

The place we saw God whisper His presence and remind us that we are better together. The place we were reminded that strength comes from hard and we will endure.

This is our history and our story to tell. #family #workingmom #faithoverfear #hope #familyiseverything
